I downloaded this record on a recommendation from a friend and I was surprised to find that I couldn’t stop listening to a side project by The Strokes’ drummer. It’s not groundbreaking or anything, but it’s certainly enjoyable. I love the 50’s pop influence and the occasional reggae-tinged guitar/organ riffs. Little Joy are coming to Hoboken on Friday, actually, and if all goes well I’ll make it to see them.
Little Joy - No One’s Better Sake
the best thing I ever learned from Tumblr
when making tea, add milk before water. completely changed my life.
Apparently, as a major underdog at the time, Obama contacted Marc Andreesson in early 2007 to discuss the potential for social networking to influence politics.
“It was like a guy in a garage who was thinking of taking on the biggest names in the business,” Mr. Andreessen recalled. “What he was doing shouldn’t have been possible, but we see a lot of that out here and then something clicks. He was clearly supersmart and very entrepreneurial, a person who saw the world and the status quo as malleable.”
Brother Ali - Mr. President (Obama You’re The Man)
Rhymesayers’ own Brother Ali chimes in with his two cents on how it feels to be a part of these historic times. Required listening.
We still have a lot of work to do brother but I want you to remember how you feel right now. Remember you were alive for this..
This is a great song.. I’m hoping to see The Decemberists next week at the newly Bowery-affiliated Wellmont Theatre in Montclair.
Valerie Plame - The Decemberists - Always The Bridesmaid Vol 1
I heard this on WFUV yesterday morning. It’s from the new EP (available only on iTunes but in iTunes Plus format - phew). They played last night at Terminal 5 (I missed it) and are playing at the Orpheum tonight (go Bijan if you can).
