Little Joy - How to Hang a Warhol

I’m still surprised at how much I like this album.. obviously the Strokes signature sound is still there, but Little Joy has enough new elements worked in to make this warm, unassuming record really enjoyable.

Definitive Jux kingpin and noted Brooklyn resident El-P takes a stab at remixing Chester French’s The Jimmy Choos, off of their new EP released last week. Rumor has it that Pharrell and Kanye got into a bidding war over signing these dudes while they were still in school at Harvard, and that they’re set to blow up over the next year, or whatever.

I downloaded this record on a recommendation from a friend and I was surprised to find that I couldn’t stop listening to a side project by The Strokes’ drummer. It’s not groundbreaking or anything, but it’s certainly enjoyable. I love the 50’s pop influence and the occasional reggae-tinged guitar/organ riffs. Little Joy are coming to Hoboken on Friday, actually, and if all goes well I’ll make it to see them.
